Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Burney's Boys BBall Rankings - A Sure Bet

OC Top 10
1 Birmingham DCD – Friday's game vs. Romulus was the most electric, crowded and rowdy I've seen the Yellowjackets student section in at least the past five years….Hawaiian shirt night, which even the whole coaching staff embraced, didn't hurt matters, either.
2 RH Adams – Something very, very special is brewing in Highlanders Hoops Country this winter!!!! Mark that down!!!
3 Clarkston – Might be the best team in the whole county right now….YEAH, I SAID IT!!!!
4 Rochester – I personally like the Falcons M&M (Manny Mendoza) better than the real Eminem (Marshall Mathers)…..this guy's been losing himself in the moment all year long, doing the little things that don't get in the stat sheet.
5 Southfield – Blue is the color of victory in the city of Southfield this boys hoops season
6 North Farmington – Smart move by the OU coaching staff for getting in on the Buddha Rogers sweepstakes early….the first D1 offer any recruit gets will always be close to their heart
7 Southfield Christian – Ready to finish strong!!!!
8 (tie) WL Central – A little bump in the road – Friday's loss to WLWestern – won't disrupt the Vikings dream cruise this winter!!
8 (tie) Waterford Mott – The Q in Corsairs star senior center Quincy Norman stands for 'QUALITY'!!!
9 Lake Orion – TEAM RISI is rounding into shape at the exact right time…..WATCH OUT!!!
10 (tie) BH Lahser – Can't believe Burney (ME!!!) dropped the Knights out of my rankings last week….What was I thinking? Well, that probably won't be happening again anytime soon!
10 (tie) WL Western – Extremely talented, but needs to find more consistency in the home stretch
