Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Quick Delivery

Central Michigan has found itself a gem of a FAST-riser in Ferndale football star Nate Brisson-Fast.
The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Brisson-Fast, who tears it up on the gridiron, playing tight end on offense and in the trenches on 'D,' accepted a college scholarship to CMU this week, pulling one of the area's best in the Class of 2014 off the recruiting board.
A raw, chiseled specimen of a natural athlete, Brisson-Fast will play defensive end at the college level with the Chipps. Showing his versatility, he's also the starting center on the Ferndale basketball squad.
Along with all-league running back-linebacker and fellow senior captain, Shaquan McGriff, Brisson Fast will look to lead the 2013 Eagles back into the playoffs for the first time in five years. Last fall, Ferndale finished a disappointing 3-6.
CMU went 7-6 last season, snagging a climatic 24-21 campaign-ending victory in the Little Cesar's Bowl over Western Kentucky.
Brisson-Fast is the tenth player to join the Chippewas' 2014 recruiting crop and the second grid stud from the Ferndale program to land in Mt. Pleasant in the past three years, following in the footsteps of former Eagles' game-breaker tailback Anthony Garland, entering his junior season at CMU.
