Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Waterford Kettering might be making some waves in the upcoming school year.
It started with the boys basketball team's hiring of highly-respected and state-championship winning head coach Ben Kelso two months ago.
Now, with the 2013 football season about to kick-off, the Captains grid squad could be on the verge of breaking through (Kettering hasn't had a pigskin campaign over the .500 mark in 15 years…yeah, that long!!)
Let's grab a gander at some Kettering Captains that have a chance at making a name for themselves on the football field this fall:
Danny Hubbell (QB) – Smart and he straw that stirs the drink for the Captains offense
Danottis Smith & Johnny Talley (RB) – A durable and potentially-dizzying duo toting the leather that has the chance to give opposing defenses fits with their collective speed and craftiness
Noah Stinson, Juan Webb, Kakaun Williams, & Eddie Ingelsby (WR) – Quite a versatile array of pass-catchers in the mix at Kettering t, giving Hubbell several viable options in the quickness, size and playmaking departments
Matt Okaiye & Nate Holsworth (DL) – Athletic and hungry pair of pass-rush ringleaders to anchor the Captains 'D' up front
Jonny Scarber (DB) – Instinctive defensive back set to captain the Kettering secondary
Brett Reynolds, Josh Alicea, Alex Ingelsby & Dalton Bedgood (OL) – Seasoned and hard-working "Nasty's" for Team SCHULTZ at the point of attack
Austin Wood & Colton Yaroch (LB) – The heart & soul of the Kettering defensive unit
Many of the aforementioned players will also be hooping for TEAM KELSO this winter, so it might be double your pleasure, double your fun for the Captains student cheering-section in the not-so-distant future.
