Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Sunny Days To Come

To quote a famous Rock&Roll tune from the 1960s, former Southfield-Lathrup boys basketball star Jeremiah Ingram is California dreaming - ready to B-Bop his way out to the West Coast to go NEXT LEVEL
Currently at Colby Community College in Kansas, Ingram accepted a DI scholarship this week, committing to San Jose State.
Ingram is a dogged and diverse talent on the hardwood, a 6-foot-7 slasher of a wing that can play either small forward or shooting guard. Last winter at Colby CC, he averaged a notable 15 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per night. The consummate hard worker, Ingram can defend and is a strong finisher around the rim. His 3-point proficiency is getting better every second.
He started two seasons at Lathrup, being overshadowed in the headline department by his high-octane teammate, Jon-Jon Williams, now hooping at the University of Toledo.
After a dynamite season last winter in JUCO ball followed up by a productive summer, Ingram picked up a number of mid-major DI offers, including one from last year's Final Four participant, Wichita State.
Competing in the Western Athletic Conference, San Jose State went 9-20 in 2013. Once on campus next fall, Ingram will have two years of eligibility.
