Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Stinging Sensation

Kalamazoo College's boys basketball team just got a lot better in the backcourt.
The Hornets nabbed Stoney Creek all-league point guard Charlie Carson for their incoming recruiting class.
Carson is a beast of a playmaker. He can do so much physically and has all the mental toughness and core x-factor intangibles necessary to be an absolute super stud at the next level.
A three-year starter for THA CREEK, Carson actually moved off the ball this winter for the sake of the club and still KILLED IT!!
Averaging 17 points, five assists and almost three steals a night, he led the Cougars to a 15-8 record and a trip into the Class A district finals.
Last season, Carson spearheaded Stoney to it's first-ever OAA league championship.
Kalamazoo went 10-15 in 2014 and Carson will be joining fellow OC point guard Mike Oravetz (currently a sophomore) of MH Bishop Foley on the Hornets 2015 roster.
The definition of a Southpaw Slayer anytime the rock is in his grasp, Burney sees this as a relationship (CC and KZoo) made in heaven and one that will almost certainly be bearing some MAJOR fruit very soon!!!
