Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Need For Speed

The MADNESS is ready for a little MAC Attack in his future.
Birmingham Brother Rice senior football star Delano Madison aka "D-Madness" aka "The Flash" (take your pick of moniker)locked up his college pigskin plans over the weekend and committed to Western Michigan University of the Mid-American Conference..
Madison is a 5-foot-10 speed demon of a wide receiver-slot back, with big-play ability dripping from every single one of his pores.
Last year, he missed his entire junior season with a broken leg. The campaign prior, he got the late-season call-up from JV and proceeded to embody lightning in a bottle, helping spark WARRIORNATION to its second of three straight state titles in a row with a bevy of game-changing sequences (see his 75-yard touchdown grab at Ford Field in the state finals)
When I tell you this kid is about to be making up for lost time in a MONSTROSITY of a way very, very soon. The fury will be unleashed and it will have the distinct flavor of several Malzone to MAD DOG MADISON scoring-connections for the ORANGE&BLACK in 2015.
With WMU adding THE OC FLASH (I think the new tv series 'The Flash' should be about my main TEAM SOFRAN homeboy Delano, not the DC Comics superhero, what do you think? You know he's used to the 'Lights, Camera, Action part), the Broncos has 10 in-state commits for their Class of 2015 recruiting crop, three hailing from OC territory.
