Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

The resurrection for the state's Eastside High School All-Star football squad took another big step towards getting the ship righted, bringing on Southfield head coach Tim Conley and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep head coach Kyle Zimmerman as the team's top assistants.
Walled Lake Western head coach Mike Zdebski was recently named the head coach for the Eastsiders, on the heels of last year's embarrassing lopsided loss to the West All-Stars.
Conley and Zimmerman are superb snags in the East squad's effort to bring the pigskin power back to this part of the state.
The pair are without question two of the top up-and-coming young sideline tacticians in the area.
The past five years, Conley's Bluejays have qualified for the playoffs four times and have captured three district titles.
Zimmerman is 19-3 over the past two seasons at NDP, putting together a 22-game regular-season win-streak between 2010-2012.
