Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

North Bound Balling

After a year away at prep school, Dorrell Foster is coming back to the Mitten and heading north.
It's a direction the burgeoning baller is quite familiar with.
Foster, a first-team All-OAA pick on the boys basketball court as a high school senior with the North Farmington Raiders ('12), signed with Northern Michigan this week for his college hoops
A 6-foot-5 wing with deadeye shooting range, great athleticism in the open court and ice in his veins, Foster averaged close to 25 points and 10 rebounds per game his final year wearing his Raiders' Brown and Yellow hardwood gear.
His first cousin is current North Farmington cage monster Jeron (Buddha) Rogers, one of the state's top recruits in the Class of 2015. The pair of cousins were both in the TEAM NOGO starting line-up two seasons ago.
Northern Michigan was 5-21 last year, but have a new coaching staff in place for the coming campaign this winter, led by Bill Sall, recently hired away from Ferris State.
Sall had recruited Foster when he was at Ferris State and built a good relationship with him, paving the groundwork for his commitment to join him up in the UP at NMU.
