Blogs > Burney's Bytes

Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

Air Jordan

Southfield-Lathrup senior basketball standout Jordan Denham is ready to fly.
Denham, a versatile 6-foot-2 combo guard, will be playing at the next level in the NAIA at Hope College with the Flying Dutchmen.
Hope is one of the top NAIA programs in the state and went 27-2 last season.
A two-year starter for Lathrup, Denham averaged 14 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as a senior in 2012.
Jordan's father, Derek Denham, is one of Lathrup's assistant coaches.
The Chargers were a top team in the OAA this past winter before getting upset in the district semifinals by Oak Park.
