Blogs > Burney's Bytes
Burney's Bytes will focus primarily on the local preps sports scene, but will also touch on some college and pro athletics, mostly in regards to athletes who hail and have played high school sports in Oakland County. My goal for the blog is to be conversational and anecdotal, a more relaxed and free formal take on high school athletics than you see in regular game day coverage.

North Farmington is off to its best start on the boys basketball court in school history.
The Raiders are a perfect 7-0, looking razor sharp, flashing fangs and breathing fire on the local prep hardwood.
Back on Tuesday, TEAM NOGO rallied from 11 points down at the half to top league foe Southfield 62-56 in overtime in front of the home crowd, setting up a mega-clash with Clarkston Friday on the road for the frontrunner-seat in the race for the OAA Red.
Alright, let's roll call it RAIDERSNATION style;
Buddha Rogers – Trying to prove he's the best player in the OC and he's doing a pretty darn good job……just a menace inside-and-out, simply put 'THE TRUTH'!!
Anthony Qasawa – Might be the most pleasant surprise of a player in the whole area, guaranteed double-digits, deadeye-shooting, underrated board-crasher, hard-nosed 'D'….the Q-Factor is a PRIMETIME PLAYA on and off the court
Jacob Joubert – Probably the most encouraging thing about the club's flawless start is that Joubert, the No. 2 option on offense and one of the premiere sophomores in the OC, is still finding his footing at the point guard position (he played off the ball last season as a Fab Frosh starter in the backcourt). When JJ hits his full stride, which will come soon, the Raiders will really be firing on cylinders. This is kid is a STRAIGHT G of a hoopster and will be going for 20-balls on a regular before it's all said and done
David Lett – His return to the lineup after a one-year absence has been KEY. Lett is the ultimate 'Glue Guy-Plus', meaning he does all the little things, the dirty work, if you will, and he's a threat to drop a double-double any night too....the def of clutch on the bball floor or the baseball diamond
Alex Darden – This gritty and smart D1 baseball recruit in the post has been out with a broken hand since December and is on the verge of returning to the floor….in other words, the Raiders are about to get even better than they already are...will rejoin forces with Rogers and DLett to give the Brown&Gold one heck of a rough-rugged-and-raw frontcourt attack
Malik Madison – Transfer from Southfield that has been excellent lately coming off the bench and spelling Joubert at the point. His steady play has helped NF win a number of recent games
Chauncey Bridges & Allante Mayweather – A pair of football stars that are just demons of destructions on defense while running the vaunted TEAM NOGO "PRESS"
Evan McMurray – Another reserve giving consistently poised efforts when called upon
